Experimental Study and Damping Effect Analysis of a New Tuned Liquid Damper Based on Karman Vortex Street Theory

In order to solve the shortcomings of traditional TLDs (tuned liquid dampers), such as their narrow frequency bands and occupation large amounts space, based on deep-water theory, a new type TLD incorporating Karmen vortex street theory is proposed named KV-TLD. A shaking table experimental test conducted fully analyze its vibration damping characteristics effectiveness in terms control confirmed. Through comparison with TLD, superiority KV-TLD verified. By analyzing parameters mass ratio ratio, it found that larger means better effect. When close 1.0, effect better, while advantage much lower. Good performance installation, wide band, superior actual engineering application possibilities, can also act good reference for subsequent projects.
